Delhi-based haute couture designer Tarun Tahiliani's show kick-started the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 in Mumbai on Thursday evening, where he presented his latest collection.

Over the next five days LFW will play host to a variety of upcoming designers, industry veterans and glamorous faces from Bollywood.

However, all eyes will be on actor Kareena Kapoor, who is set to be the grand finale showstopper at the fashion extravaganza.

As the face of Lakme Absolute, Kareena will walk the runway for designer Namrata Joshipura. In an exclusive interview with Mail Today, the new Begum of Bollywood speaks about fashion, films and beauty.

 As India's top actor she had dabbled in all types of cinema - commercial to alternative - but that hasn't satiated her appetite for the big screen. "As an actor all you want to do and what you look forward to the most is more acting and better roles. If you're passionate about acting there's no limit to the desire."

"For me it's always been and will always be about acting. There is nothing else - no business, no profession - nothing that interests me more than performing on reel," says Kareena. Life after marriage for her is much the same. "I'm very happy working and making films, marriage hasn't changed that," she adds. While most tinsel-town divas do not appear in public without make-up, Kareena is often seen sporting an au naturel look.

The actress said: "I like to keep make-up as minimal as I can. It is essential for my profession and that is why I'm happy to be associated with Lakme. My grandmother used Lakme products so I feel like life has come full circle - I am now the face of the brand. It feels great to be associated with it."

When asked if she thinks that LFW should promote less established designers at grand finale shows so that she can help garner some spotlight for them. "I think LFW is the platform that promotes young faces and we usually have young designers as showstoppers. Last year, it was Pankaj & Nidhi and Kallol Datta so it's always good to have a mix of names," she says.
